Police Rescue Baby From South Seattle Home

From the SPD Blotter:

On March 7th, at approximately 6:00 PM, South Precinct officers responded to a call in the 4300 Block of 15th Avenue South to investigate a disturbance. A female had called 911 describing a fight, but she was almost unintelligible when speaking with 911. Officers arrived and found the disturbance was mutual and not domestic violence related. The 27 year old female caller was attempting to play peacekeeper between the two fighting parties and it was apparent that she was highly intoxicated. She was breastfeeding and caring for her 10 month old baby boy. Narcotics and narcotics paraphernalia were in the home and easily accessible. The baby was also not responding appropriately to his environment and the officers investigating reasonably believed it may have been under the influence of intoxicants. The officers felt that the baby was endangered and the environment wasn’t safe. The boy was taken to the South Precinct where his condition was screened by Seattle Fire Medics. The child was later transported to Children’s Hospital for further evaluation and treatment. Child Protective Services (CPS) met officers at the hospital and took custody of the child. This is an on going investigation.
