Prosecutors File Charges In Last Year's Hippie Brothel Raid

Nine months after police stormed an alleged Eastlake brothel, prosecutors have filed charges against the businesses' alleged ringleader, Vivian Walker Ellis, better known as Rainbow Love.

Prosecutors have charged Rainbow Love—her really real legal name—with two counts of promoting prostitution and one count of attempted promoting prostitution after a nearly two year investigation into the Sacred Temple, located in the 3100 block Eastlake Avenue.

Charging documents detail how a disgruntled receptionist tipped police to the Sacred Temple after she was told by another employee that she "needed to help out by giving the clients hand jobs."

Undercover detectives visited the business, and one officer even participated in a job interview with Love, court documents say.

Following her arrest, Love—who also ran the Moon Temple in Renton and Kirkland and another massage parlor in Greenwood—told detectives her work "is spiritual in nature."

I interviewed several Sacred Temple employees following the raid, who defended their work at the "healing center." Whether any healing was actual done at the center is up for debate, but these women didn't appear to be subject to the same mental and physical abuse the sex workers often are.

Love's arraignment is scheduled for March 2nd. The Sacred Temple remains open.
