Police Arrest 19 Prostitutes and Johns In Denny Park Sting

A Seattle vice operation on Friday night near Denny Park netted 19 johns and prostitutes, police say.

According to SPD spokesman Mark Jamieson, the West Precinct had received "numerous citizen complaints" about prostitution in the area, so Vice and Anti-Crime Team units set up a sting near Denny Park.

The Friends of Denny Park website says the park is a well-known hangout for drug dealers and prostitutes, who "are active in the park both day and night."

According to the King County Jail register, police arrested 10 men and 8 women in the operation. Jamieson says police also arrested one teenage girl.

One of the women arrested was also busted in a similar sting in Bend, Oregon last year.

In and Out
You have to get the pimps who control these women.
I didn't see anything about arresting the pimps.
Great. Shaming the Johns and making them pay some money.
The hookers are just rotating in and out of jail,
while their pimps are waiting outside for them.
Hit the pimps hard with human trafficking.

Fixing this problem is easy
1) Legalize prostitution behind closed doors
2) For streetwalkers, replace jail time and useless "re-education" programs for offenders with huge fines for both the girls and their pimps.

Economics will take care of the rest.

Supply and Demand
It's all about Supply and Demand. Stop the demand--prosecute and humiliate the John's who are buying teenage girls! We are treating the girls as criminals--they are victims--many have been forced into prostitution against their wills. A recyclable commodity.

from Seattle Against Slavery (SAS)
Preventing the demand for prostitution will greatly help end slavery and human trafficking and, ultimately, save lives. It can slow the rampant criminal activities sex crimes brings about such as kidnapping, physical abuse, drug addiction, forced prostitution, slavery, sexual exploitation, and rape. Local and national experts tell us 99% of all "sex workers" are actually victims of slavery and human trafficking. Equally outrageous and important to note is that the current climate of this growing demand is directly the reason why girls forced into prostitution are getting younger and younger. Right now, the average age of these sex victims is 12 to 13 years old. We demand the end of sex crimes which is predominantly male and have a movement of Men Against Slavery.
